The part that usually goes wrong
What counts toward your bill.
Loyalty apps normally charge by the number of orders your store did last month. It sounds simple until you find out which orders they decided to count — and get a bill you can't reproduce, or lose access to your own customers' balances for going one order over.
So here is the entire list, and the answer is the same all the way down.
| Does this affect what you pay? | Answer |
|---|---|
| Online orders | No — unlimited |
| Shopify POS orders | No — unlimited |
| Draft orders | No |
| Orders from other marketplaces | No |
| Subscription renewals | No |
| Historical orders you import | No |
| How many loyalty members you have | No |
| How many retail locations you run | No |
| How many staff use POS | No |
| How many points are issued or redeemed | No |
| Emails or notifications sent | No — Azee doesn't send any |
Your bill is $0 or $29. It does not change because you had a good month.
Two things we'll commit to in writing
Your points data stays yours.
The most expensive thing a loyalty app can do to you is hold your customers' balances hostage. Both of these are true on every plan, including the free one.
Nothing can quietly rewrite a balance.
Every movement is a permanent entry, and the database itself refuses to change or remove one. A correction is a new entry, so you can always see what happened and when.
Cancelling never deletes your ledger or locks you out of it.
Downgrade to Free and the counter features switch off — your history and balances don't.
Questions
The things worth asking before you install.
What happens if I go over a limit?
There isn't one to go over. Orders, members, points, locations and staff are all unlimited on both plans. The only difference between Free and Retail is whether loyalty works at your counter and whether you can import balances from another app.
Is the free plan a trial?
No. Free is a permanent plan with no order cap and no expiry. A store that only sells online can use Azee indefinitely without paying anything. Retail has a separate 14-day free trial on top.
Do I pay per location?
No. Retail is $29 a month whether you have one shop or thirty. This is the main place Azee differs from the rest of the category, where multiple POS locations usually mean a much higher tier or a sales call.
How is it billed?
Through Shopify, on your regular Shopify invoice — Azee never handles your card. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel yourself from the Shopify admin without contacting us.
What happens to my customers' points if I cancel?
Downgrading to Free deletes nothing. POS redemption and imports switch off; every balance and every entry in the ledger stays exactly where it is, and Free is a permanent plan, so you can sit there indefinitely.
Uninstalling is different: as Shopify requires of every app, that removes your data. If you want to stop paying but keep your program, downgrade to Free rather than uninstalling.
Can I move my existing program across?
Yes — export the balances from your current loyalty app and upload the file. Azee works out which column is which, shows you a preview before writing anything, lists the rows it couldn't match to a customer, and lets you reverse the whole run if it went wrong. It's part of Retail, so the 14-day trial is long enough to move everything across and check it before you pay.
Do points earned online work in store, and the other way round?
Yes — there is one balance per customer, not one per channel. A point earned at the counter can be spent on your website that evening, and spending it anywhere reduces the same balance everywhere.
What are points actually worth?
You decide. Azee sets up a conventional program on install — one point per dollar of order subtotal, 100 points for $5 off — and you can change the earn rate, the redemption rate, the minimum redemption and your tiers whenever you like. Points are earned on the subtotal only, never on tax or shipping.
Does it slow my storefront down?
The rewards widget is a Shopify theme app block that loads its script deferred and renders nothing until it has something to show. Because it's an app block rather than code pasted into your theme, it also removes itself cleanly if you uninstall.
Which currency is the price in?
US dollars, charged through Shopify. Your own program runs in your store's currency.
Start free, and only pay when you want it at the till.
Free has no order limits and never expires. Retail is $29 a month flat with a 14-day trial.
